Memorial Service and Lunch

The Memorial Service in the Regimental Chapel in York Minster is held every year on the first Saturday in Oct with the buffet lunch held at York Racecourse.

Community

COMMUNITY

The Association actively supports many community organised events in the local villages and towns with which we enjoy a long association with.  We are proud of the strong history links we have with these towns and villages where historically the KOYLI and Light Infantry drew their recruits from and where The Rifles continue to recruit from.

The picture opposite was taken in May 2017 in Dewsbury Cemetery at the unveiling of a Memorial to the Fallen of 2 World Wars.  The money for the memorial was raised by The Friends of Dewsbury Cemetery.  There are 18 members of the KOYLI who made the ultimate sacrifice and it is the final resting place of Sjt John William Ormsby VC MM.

SOCIAL

We enjoy a variety of social activities at Branch and Association level.  Branches hold dinner dances, games nights.  The Association organises various trips and visits as well as Reunion Dinner Dances to celebrate Regimental days.
