Ernie Wharton, ex KOYLI/2LI


Ernie Wharton passed away at the beginning of September 2016 after losing his battle with cancer. Ernie had suffered a massive stroke serval years ago and was looked after at home by his loving wife Sheila. Ernie was cremated at Dewsbury Crematorium on 13 September 2016, his coffin draped in the Union flag. 4 Standard Bearers carrying 3 KOYLI Standards and an Aden Veterans Standard proved an escort and stood guard over Ernie's coffin and a guard of honour was provided KOYLI servicemen who had served with Ernie. Last Post and Reveille was sounded by Pete Bate with the exaltation read by Colin Ward both also served with Ernie

On behalf of the Regimental Association members our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Sheila and the family and friends. Our thanks to Sheila making us very welcome.

As the bugle sounds "No more parades" stand easy Ernie your duty done, a place awaits you in the final RV where your brothers in arms who went before wait to greet you. RIP Ernie. Cede Nullis

The office is generally unmanned as there is no Internet, landline or answer machine.  The Association Secretary visits the office twice a week to collect the mail and for any pre-arranged appointments.  The Association Secretary can be contacted on the mobile number or by email.
