Wakefield Branch Members and Wives Enjoy the LI Reunion 2017

LI Cap Badge

Members and their wives from all of our branches along with members, their wives and partners, from the other Light Infantry and the former County Regimental Associations enjoyed the amazing summer weather and good company last weekend at the LI and Rifles Reunion Weekend in Shrewsbury.

The inspecting officer for the parade was Maj Chris Lawton, ex 2LI and currently Rifles County Secretary North East. Chris was celebrating his 50th year since joining the army. This year was a first for Ken Hurley who was able to part in the parade thanks to the availability of free mobility scooters. He managed a perfect eyes right while bringing up the rear in the march off. Members of Leeds Branch presented a cheque to the Veteran Buglers Association.

Following the parade the crowd were entertain to an excellent Sounding Retreat by The Rifles Waterloo Band and Bugles joined by members of the Veteran Buglers Association of the Light Division and Rifles. They also performed to an appreciative audience at the All Ranks Dinner where they were joined by the "All Ranks Male Voice Choir" for the singing of the County Songs.

Next year the reunion will celebrate 50th Anniversary of the forming of the Light Infantry. Details of the event will be publish when available.

The pictures below are of Wakefield Branch members, guest and wives: Paul and June Scofield; Ken and Deborah Hurley; Karen Cranswick; Dave and Tina Marshall (1LI).
