Yorkshiremen Travel to Norwich to Honour a Brave 'KOYLI'

West Leeds Branch Secretary and a KOYLI soldier before becoming 2LI, Brian Clayton, read a personal message from David Craven the Grandson of Pte Edwards and the VC citation was read by Lord Dannatt. After which both Brian and Lord Dannatt unveiled the VC Centenary Stone. Regimental Association Secretary, Colin Cranswick, carried the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Standard.

After the service Captain Bob Roberts, The RIFLES County Secretary Yorkshire, Brian Clayton and Colin Cranswick laid a wreath of Poppies and White Roses next Pte Edwards VC Stone.

On the 16th of August, the one hundredth anniversary of the Pte Edwards conspicuous act of bravery that earned him the VC a Comemorative VC Stone was unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Leeds and David Craven in Armley Park at the War Memorial. Leeds is where Wilfred Edwards lived before enlisting into 7KOYLI and to where he returned and lived until his death in 1972.
