At Pontefract Castle on 1 August 2019, Minden Day which is also Yorkshire Day, Col Retd Gerry Delany unveiling a Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry plaque on the newly built bandstand. The plaque is a tribute to the long historic link between Pontefract and the KOYLI and continues today with The Rifles, Y Coy 8 Rifles has its company headquarters at Minden House; the only remaining building still of the old Pontefract Barracks still owned by MOD.
Musicians from the Minden Band and Bugles of E (The Rifles) Company ACF Yorkshire (N&W) were the first band to perform in the bandstand, further reinforcing the link to The Rifles. Three of the 'Rifles Pillars' working together, Cadets and Association, and the local community.
