Leeds mark Armed Forces Day 2021


Leeds commemorated Armed Force Day on Saturday 3rd July with a scaled down Flag Raising Ceremony at the Cenotaph at Victoria Gardens. A virtual day of celebration for Armed Forces Day was run on Leeds Council Social Media feeds.


Our Standard Bearers Ady Waites and Colin Cranswick carrying the Light Infantry, and The Rifles Standards joined Standards from other military Associations. Bob Roberts, The Rifles Regional Secretary, and Maj (Retd) David Jarratt, KOYLI Trustee and Chairman of Branches, were also present. Photos by the Yorkshire Evening Post can be view here.


Celebrating Leeds Armed Forces Day local radio station Chapel FM broadcast over 6 hours of content including interviews with serving members of the Armed Forces, cadets, and veterans including Ady Waites from our Leeds Branch. The office is generally unmanned as there is no Internet, landline or answer machine.  The Association Secretary visits the office twice a week to collect the mail and for any pre-arranged appointments.  The Association Secretary can be contacted on the mobile number or by email.
