Maj (Retd) Malcolm Best - Late LI(V)

It is with great sadness that I have to inform members that Maj (Retd) Malcolm Best late LI(V), died on 7 Feb 23 aged 74.


Malcolm enlisted into the LI(V) serving with LI(V), 8LI, and KOYY(LI). Malcolm had a long career serving the Wakefield community as an employee of Wakefield City Council and later with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.

Malcolm will be greatly missed by association members who knew and served with him.


Our thoughts and condolences at the sad time are with Malcolm's family.

 

As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the FRV,

your duty done with honour and distinction.

Rest in Peace Malcolm.

Association members are invited to attend the Service and the Wake, details are below. Date and time: 7 Mar 23 at 1120.

  • Location: Wakefield Crematorium, Standbridge Lane Wakefield, WF4 3JA

  • Funeral Director: R.J.Burgess, 1 Manorfields Court, Crofton Wakefield WF4 1SY. Telephone 01924-894017

  • Donations in lieu of flowers to SSAFA in Malcolm's name

  • Bugler and Standard Bearer are requested by the family, Association Secretary will organise.

If you are intending to attend the Wake you are asked to email your intent to the Association Secretary at assnsecyorkshire@the-rifles.co.uk as the family would like to know how many to cater for.


Anyone wishing to send cards or letters of condolence is requested to send them to the Rifles Regional Office at Minden House marked FAO family of Malcolm Best. Office staff will then forward them to the family.
