We are very pleased to say that we overachieved the fundraising target to give 'Spike' a headstone. We must thank you “ALL “for your very generous donations, we must also recognise and thank Tim Humphreys who has been the driving force behind the fundraising to provide 'Spike' a headstone provided by those who knew and served with 'Spike'.
With the surplus funds, the following is being considered; a bench and tree be planted at the KOYLI Memorial site in Elmfield Park, Doncaster with a suitable plaque inscribed. A further consideration is a chair/bench to be located in the KOYLI Research Centre in the KOYLI Gallary in Doncaster Danum Gallary, Library and Museum with a similar inscription.
The Headstone service will be held at 1200 hrs Thursday 19th October 2023 at Stainforth cemetery, Doncaster DN7 5AA, followed by a buffet at Hatfield Working Men’s Club (Pit Club) Hall Road, DN7 5HF. Regimental Standards and Buglers will be in attendance and the “Minden House Buglers” will perform at the WMC.
Parking at the cemetery is available on the main road and at the top of the cemetery on the grass area. Do not park on any access road in the cemetery. Toilet facilities are available in the cemetery. There is no wet weather program. Parking is available at Hatfield WMC.
