The KOYLI Medal Room and Research Centre was officially opened on Minden Day, Thursday 1 August 2024, at the City of Doncaster Archives on Chequer Road. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by the Elected Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones.
Following the opening, the Association's annual wreath-laying service was led by Rev. Andrew Martlew, in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Dame Hilary Chapman, civic dignitaries, former KOYLI Officers and Soldiers. Among the attendees was Chelsea Pensioner Phil Watkins, a former KOYLI member.
During the lunch at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel, Phil, who had served with Russ Snood, Ronnie Barrow, and Pete Bate, reunited with them after several decades.
