Minden Day Wreath Laying 1 Aug 2020 at the KOYLI Memorial in Doncaster

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

1st August is Minden Day, the Regimental Day of The King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry which we mark annually with a wreath laying ceremony at the KOYLI memorial in Elmfield Park Doncaster, unveiled on Minden Day 2018, and a Minden Day function on the nearest Saturday to 1 August.

Sadly the pandemic has resulted in the cancellation all of this years Regimental events including the planned opening on Minden Day of the new Doncaster Museum that will house the KOYLI Gallery.

We couldn’t let Minden Day pass without marking the day while maintaining social distancing. Vice President of the Association Lt Col (Retd) Graham Whitmore laid a KOYLI wreath at the base of the memorial. Also in attendance were Kev Fawcett, who sounded Last Post and Reveille, and Colin Cranswick the Association Secretary who filmed the event. Happy Minden Day to all KOYLIs and their families.
