It is with profound sadness that I inform members of the passing of Mr. Arnold (Arnie) Fothergill, formerly of KOYLI, LI, and RGJ, who died on 24 December 2024 at the age of 85.
Arnie achieved the rank of WO2 in the battalion and was the Battalion bugle major during its time in Berlin. In the Queen's Birthday Honours List of 1972, within the Operational Honours Northern Ireland section, he was awarded the MBE.
All ranks within the Battalion highly respected Arnie. He enlisted in the KOYLI, later the LI following the disbandment of KOYLI, and also served in the RGJ.
Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with Arnie's widow, Sandra, his family, friends, and the association members who knew and served alongside him.
As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the FRV,
your duty done with honour and distinction.
Rest in Peace Arnie.
Cede Nullis.
