It is with great sadness that I have to inform members that Mr Brian Gawthorpe, late KOYLI and LI, passed away on 26 Aug 2021 aged 82.
Brian enlisted in Pontefract in 1959. He served 6 years as a Regular with KOYLI, then transferred to the reserves and served a further 10 years. He saw active service in Malaya and Borneo. He was also stationed in Germany. Having survived being shot 3 times, battled a series of serious health conditions over his life, Brian sadly succumbed to Covid-19.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Brian's wife Sonia, his son's David, Kevin and Steven, and his many friends at the sad time.
As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the FRV, rest in peace Brian. Cede Nullis.
Bugler and Standard Bearers are not required by request of the family.
Association members are invited to the funeral and the wake.
