It is with great sadness that I have to inform members that Mr John (known as Jack) Hawkins late KOYLI Band died on 6 Mar 23 aged 92.
Jack enlisted into the KOYLI serving in the Band and rose to the rank of LCpl. After leaving the Army Jack joined the Police and became a dog handler and became a member of the Police band.
Jack was an active member of the KOY/LI Band and Bugles Club and regularly attended Association events. He was pictured with the Mayor and Mayoress of Wakefield at the 2022 Minden Day function.
Our thoughts and condolences at the sad time are with Jack's daughter Anne, Son-in-law Paul, all family members, and the many friends in the Band and Bugles club and the Association.
As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the heavenly band,
your duty done with honour and distinction.
Rest in Peace Jack.
Cede Nullis.
