Mr Melvin James Smith - Late KOYLI


It is with great sadness that I have to inform members that Mr Melvin James Smith late KOYLI died on 14 Feb 23 aged 87.


Melvin enlisted into the KOYLI serving in 1KOYLI in Berlin.

Our thoughts and condolences at the sad time are with Melvin's daughter Wendy and all family members

 

As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the FRV,

your duty done with honour and distinction.

Rest in Peace Melvin.

Cede Nullis.

 

Association members are invited to attend the ceremony and the Wake, details are:

  • Date and time: 17 Mar 23 at 1030 hrs.

  • Location: St Johns the Evangelist Church, Bradshaw Pavement Lane, Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX2 9UX

  • KOYLI Coffin Drape, Bugler, and Standard Bearer are requested by the family, Association Secretary will organise the Coffin Drape and Standard Bearer.

  • Funeral Director: Springhead Funeral directors 7-9 Stainland Road, Greetland Halifax, West Yorkshire HX4 8AD. Telephone 01422-327382.

  • Flowers or Donations: Donations to Macmillian Cancer Support in Melvin's name.

Anyone wishing to send cards or letters of condolence is requested to send them to the Rifles Regional Office at Minden House marked FAO family of Melvin Smith. Office staff will then forward them to the family.
