HRH The Queen Consort officially opened the 94th Field of Remembrance in the grounds of Westminster Abbey. The Opening of the Field of Remembrance has been held every year since 1928.
After the opening ceremony The Queen Consort walked around all the regimental plots and greeted the regimental plot representatives and veterans from around the world. Colin Cranswick, the Association Secretary, was the plot representative for the KOYLI plot.
Association members Eileen Richardson and Maxine Jordan travelled to London with Colin to represent our association. Unfortunately while in London Eileen wasn’t feeling too well with a bad head cold and missed the ceremony.
Whole at Westminster Abbey we bumped into some old friends, retired Officers Tim Lerwill and Nigel Jones, who send their best wishes.
The opening of the field of Remembrance is an annual event which takes place on the Thursday before Remembrance Sunday and a small group of association members attend to man the KOYLI plot. If you wish to attend next year it is essential to book as soon as the event is advertised on the association website as places are limited.
