In 2008, a veteran biker from the RLC organised a ride to the National Memorial Arboretum in Tamworth to pay respects to his fallen comrades. The Ride was attended by over a hundred of his fellow riders from a local chapter.
Information about the ride was circulated to the biking community, and in 2009 over ten thousand bikers, both veterans and civilians attended from across the country, all of whom rode together in convoy from various starting points, to pay their respects to the fallen.
The ride has taken place every year with the exception of 2020, when it had to be cancelled because of Covid-19, but over ten thousand bikers still registered and paid their subscription.
This year, despite atrocious weather, over ten thousand bikes joined the ride from various starting points across the country, and over twenty five veteran riders from the Light Division joined the ride. After the main commemoration service, Colonel Nick Illic laid a wreath on behalf of the Regiment, our riders then congregated at the Light Infantry Memorial and paid their respects to our fallen.
A photo album has been created of this years event which can be viewed here
